Risk Parameters

Understanding Drawdowns & Exposure

Drawdowns

A drawdown represents the peak-to-trough decline during a specific period for a strategy. It is a critical measure of historical risk intensity.

Volatility

Volatility measures the frequency and magnitude of price movements. Higher volatility typically implies greater uncertainty and potential for rapid equity fluctuations.

Risk-of-Ruin

This metric estimates the probability of an account sustaining a loss so large that it is no longer viable to continue trading the strategy.

Margin Requirements

Futures trading utilizes leverage, meaning required margin is a fraction of the contract value. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses significantly.
